How one business is getting the care homes dancing and singing

Natalie (former professional ballet dancer) started danceSing back in 2016 with the vision to bring the benefits of singing and dancing to stay fit, healthy, and happy to the general public. Natalie and her team of amazing and passionate professionals wanted to make a positive difference to people’s lives through their shared vision of bringing wellness to the nation. danceSing was born with the main aim to “lift your mood and help you to feel less stressed, less anxious, and more confident”.

2020 – The year the world changed

When Covid-19 hit the world, the way we work, live and learn changed dramatically and the classes that danceSing were providing in person were no longer able to go ahead. They moved their classes online and since then have grown and adapted to the benefit of their customers. One idea that had been in the pipeline for a while (before Covid hit) is providing the services to care homes. All the while being supported by Business Gateway Clackmannanshire.

Care Homes

The Care Homes across the UK were particularly hit hard by Covid in terms of the virus but also isolation due to no visitors which meant loneliness and mental health issues were on the increase. Natalie and her team had the idea for the care home services before the pandemic but had to improvise to create a service that would allow them to provide this in the strange times that we found ourselves in.

danceSing Care was born

Natalie’s team have developed a service that is an exclusive wellbeing experience designed to offer opportunities for people to participate in meaningful music and movement activities that positively promote their mental and physical health and happiness in a care home setting. The team have also benefited from strategy support and business advice through Business Gateway in Clackmannanshire.

Care homes can currently try danceSing Care FREE to understand what is involved and how it works, if you are a manager or work in a care home then sign up now to access this amazing programme. NHS & danceSing Care

The danceSing Care programme has been developed with NHS healthcare professionals including consultation with psychologists and occupational therapists from Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust. The feedback they received has been extremely positive:

The danceSing Care resources are a lovely way of supporting care home staff to meet their residents’ need for meaningful engagement, social interaction, physical exercise and fun, improving wellbeing during the pandemic and beyond

“One resident who uses a Zimmer frame stood up doing the swam move and walked forward without her Zimmer and wanted to dance. danceSing Care gave her so much confidence”
