Meet Gill, our new danceSing Leader

We would like to introduce our new dance leader, Gill Lawson. Gill has a wealth of experience and will be a fantastic contribution to our great team of danceSing leaders. Get to know Gill below…

Name: Gillian Lawson

Role with danceSing: Dance Leader

Tell us a bit about your musical/dance experience and background:

I first started my training at Dansarena Studios in Ayr before moving down to London to complete a BA Honours Degree in Dance and Musical Theatre Performance at Bird College. After graduating college I worked various performing jobs in the UK and abroad before landing a job with Carnival Cruise Line. Starting off as a dancer/singer in 2007 I progressed to Senior Cast Manager for their new Playlist Production shows. During this time I was lucky enough to work alongside amazing West End, Broadway and commercial choreographers and directors throughout the conception of many new shows and spent 11 years cruising the world.

What attracted you to danceSing?

I was introduced to danceSing by a former ballet teacher and the attraction is all in the name – danceSing. I love to dance and I love to sing so it seemed like a no brainer to me.

What are you most looking forward to whilst working with danceSing?

I’m excited to become part of the team working alongside some very talented and inspiring Leaders and bringing my passion and enthusiasm to our members. I’ve attended a few classes over the last week and I already feel very welcomed and part of something special.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to spend time with my family, especially my 2 gorgeous nephews Alasdair and Duncan. I also enjoy going to the gym, the theatre, dining out in nice restaurants and i’m certainly partial to a nice glass of red wine… oh and cheese, I love cheese!

Welcome on board, Gill! We can’t wait to kick start our new term in 2019 along with you and all our fantastic danceSing leaders and members.
