Stretching can often be rushed, not done correctly or sometimes not even done at all! It can be overlooked for many reasons, however stretching is an important part of every workout or can be done on its own to enhance overall wellbeing and improve your focus on breathing and mindfulness.
We’ve just launched our new Stretch & Strength workout video which will help you to work on stretching and strengthening in the comfort of your own home.
When we stretch we are lengthening all of the tight muscles that are pulling areas of our body away from their intended position. Simple stretches that focus on the lower back, chest and shoulders can help improve the alignment of our body and enhance posture.
We need to have flexible and strong muscles to maintain a range of motion in our joints. Stretching our muscles regularly helps us to avoid any aches and pains because our joints are healthy. In turn, improved flexibility can also help balance and coordination.
When we get tired our muscles tighten, so when we loosen off and stretch this revitalises our energy levels. Stretching has many benefits, such as increasing blood flow and strengthening muscles, which all work in combination to increase our energy levels.
Stretching increases the blood flow in the body, which also brings a greater supply of nutrients to all of our muscles. This can help reduce muscle soreness, speed up recovery time and may also decrease chances of injury.
Any kind of exercise can help reduce stress but stretching in particular can help calm the mind and gives your body time to recharge. Stretching loosens tense muscles and gives us a feeling of relaxation.
People who stretch often have better control over their muscles, which helps improve their posture, and they can even be more likely to stop themselves from tripping!
